Odds are, you are looking for the secret of successful slimming. Like most Americans, you’re concerned about your expanding waistline, tummy or cellulite. You’ve tried everything from diet pills to cabbage soup and nothing is working. While most experts agree that the time-tested way of losing excess pounds is through a healthy diet, balanced caloric intake and sensible exercise, many of us are unsure how to begin. And, while healthy exercise is possible without a gym membership, healthy food choices are more difficult to make, and few of us can honestly say we know how to properly create a menu plan for weight loss.

In her latest book, The Fiber35 Diet, New York Times best selling author Brenda Watson shares that with just a few simple changes, you can achieve vibrant health, optimal weight, and wellness for life. What is her secret? Consuming 35 grams of fiber per day, which is in line with statistical recommendations coming from the National Institutes of Health and the Surgeon General. Since fiber is essential for healthy blood chemistry, digestive wellness and cardiovascular health, The Fiber35 Diet outlines the importance of getting sufficient quantity in the diet.

Fiber is the indigestible parts of plants. There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Both types of fiber provide bulk or roughage to the system, which helps us feel full faster. However, soluble fiber, provides a special benefit to those who are hoping to lose weight. According to Brenda Watson CNC, soluble fiber also works on a hormonal level, to gently suppress the appetite.

Considering that the average American gets between 10-12 grams, it is no surprise that obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease is on the rise.

An exciting benefit of high fiber foods is that they are low in calories. Fiber itself is indigestible, therefore it passes through the system without absorption. Because fiber is virtually non-caloric, by eating high fiber foods, we can eat a lot without increasing our caloric burden. And, because fiber-rich foods take up a lot of space, they increase your feelings of satiety, or in simple terms, you feel full because they fill up your stomach when you eat them.

Additionally, studies conducted by researchers at the Department of Human Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Kiel in Germany showed that fibrous foods naturally cause your body to eliminate excess calories in your stool. Brenda’s book calls this the ‘fiber flush’ effect, and it means that for every gram of fiber you eat you eliminate about seven calories. So if you eat 35 grams of fiber per day, you can simply flush away as much as 245 calories per day, making good headway toward a flat belly.

Lastly, because fiber tends to slow down the conversion of carbohydrates into available blood sugar, it supports healthy blood chemistry and prevents excessive snacking. By eating plenty of fibrous foods we are taking an active part in maintaining a healthy diet and promoting weight loss.

International professional organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other international institutions work to make sure that medical training, medical practices, and medical equipment are standardized around the globe. Diagnostic terminology is set; medications from prescription drugs to anesthesia are globally-available.

Medical tourism takes advantage of this standardization of medical procedures. Doctors overseas–many of whom have trained in the US or Canada, or be members of international professional association–assure their patients that they’ll enjoy the same quality of care as they would at home, if not better.

Thailand is perhaps the best-established destination for medical tourism, and much of that is due to Thai doctors’ and hospital administrators’ global knowledge. Thai facilities’ characteristically high level of health routinism means that patients enjoy medical care and hospital experiences that are higher than, or at least comparable to, standards in their home countries. Not only do many Thai physicians hold US professional certification; a number of Thai hospitals maintain cooperative relationships with facilities in the US as well. Many travel to hospitals in Thailand for plastic surgery or other forms of cosmetic surgery from North America, Europe, and Japan.

India is developing a competitive market in health tourism, and may industry observers credit the expansion of India’s health tourism industry to the profession’s global scope. Leading facilities in India are designed to the same specifications and equipped like research hospitals anywhere else in the globe. India is not alone in transferring the globalization of medicine to the tourist industry’s benefit. So, too, do medical facilities in Singapore and the Philippines offer patients world-class medical and dental procedures.

Just as health routinism is by no means restricted to Thailand, medical tourism’s recent growth is by no means restricted to Asia. Each year, more and more travelers book tickets to Eastern Europe or south in the Americas for dental treatments, to South Africa for aesthetic surgery, or to Canada for laser treatments.

As we age, our body obviously changes and it’s important that we get the nutrition our body needs based on our age. Surely you would not feed an adolescent baby food- They have/need different diets than a new born or toddler does. It’s equally important for a grown adult or senior to eat differently than they did when they were in their 30′s. Here are a few tips and commonly asked questions regarding Senior Nutrition:

A Few Facts Seniors And Caregivers Should Know:

1. As activity levels decrease muscle mass often diminishes and therefore reducing the body’s energy requirements. What does this mean? Well, if a senior does not adapt and continues to eat the way they did when their body required much more energy they run the risk of becoming obese.

2. On the flip side, many seniors also run the risk of not getting enough nutrients for the body due to appetite changes. It’s important to develop a portion controlled diet to ensure the senior gets all the nutrition their body needs. If they aren’t using up any energy and never feel hungry or tired, maybe plan some senior friendly exercises (based upon their ability) to get them more active and to build up an appetite.

3. Always check with your doctor before making any diet changes if you are on any medication. Different medicines can affect food intake in different ways; some can cause an upset stomach, some require you to take them with specific foods, while others cannot be mixed with some foods or beverages. Always check with your doctor first!

What Does Eating Healthy Mean?

Eating healthy is basically eating the right amounts of foods to provide the required nutrients to give your body enough energy for daily activities, ensure your body is functioning properly, and prevent illness and maintain longevity.

Specific Nutritional Recommendations for Seniors:

It’s helpful to periodically review your diet as you age, especially if you have any medical needs. You should schedule a visit to your doctor so he/she can assist you in creating a diet specifically for you and your individual nutritional needs.

Here are a few general guidelines:

o	Monitor fat intake to maintain healthy cholesterol
o	Consume more calcium and vitamin D for strong healthy bones
o	Reduce your salt intake to prevent water retention and high blood pressure
o	Cut back your intake of sugar and dry foods
o	Increase your water intake
o	Participate in regular physical activity

The Senior Food Pyramid!

Yes, indeed there is a food pyramid strictly for our senior citizens of the world! It’s very much like the food pyramid you should already be familiar with, only this one is adapted specifically for the different needs of older adults who have a slower metabolism and slightly different nutritional needs.

o Let’s start at the base. It is recommended that you drink 8 servings of water a day. (I sure hope you’re thirsty!!)

o Next, you should be getting six or less servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta. (This is less than the traditional food pyramid where it is recommended we get at least six or more servings in this group.)

o Then you should be getting no more than two servings from the fruit group and two – three servings from the vegetable group. (Again, this is less, in fact half, then the traditional food pyramid)

o Now we have the dairy and meat servings. Seniors should get less than two servings from the meat, poultry, fish, beans, and eggs group. And they should also get three servings of milk, yogurt, and cheese.

o As for your beloved sweets, fats and oils… use them sparingly. You’re better off making them just a little treat for yourself every so often rather than a staple part of your daily intake. (But then again, that one is true for all of us!)

o And lastly seniors should be getting calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B-12 supplements. (See your doctor for specific amounts)

Benefits to a Healthy Diet:

o	Increased mental acuteness
o	Resistance to illness and disease
o	Higher levels of energy
o	Stronger immune system
o	Faster recuperation time

Everyone, young and old alike, should practice a healthy daily diet. But it seems seniors often suffer most from not changing their diet. As we age, our bodies get older while we often still feel young at heart! So be sure to stop and examine your diet and eat accordingly! You won’t regret it!

Dental care is something that everybody needs but it’s not always affordable. If you (or the members of your family) need dental care and you don’t have dental insurance, there are a few things that you can do to save money. By following these tips, you can get the services you need without spending your entire paycheck on your teeth.

1. Consider going to a local dental school that offers cleanings and services at a discount. Dentists and dental assistants have to learn somewhere. You can help them with their training and save money at the same time. If you feel uneasy about letting a student work with you, be assured that they are supervised by their teachers. Look in the yellow pages for local dental schools and see if they offer these services.

2. Choose your dentist wisely. Although it may be appealing to go to a dental clinic that offers extra services and extended hours, they normally charge more. All of the convenience that you get with such a clinic will probably come at a price that is passed on to the customers. Look for an independent dentist who works out of his or her own office. The charges for specific services may be cheaper, and you may be able to negotiate a flexible payment plan for your dental care. Use your yellow pages to find an independent dentist in your area who has openings in his or her schedule.

3. Shop around for different dentists, and don’t be afraid to get a second opinion. If your dentist tells you that you need an expensive procedure, visit another dentist and get a second quote. Ask around and even do some Internet research to make sure that you aren’t overpaying for a procedure. This is especially important when it comes to orthodontic work. Find out how much different orthodontists charge for braces or similar procedures so you can save money. The cost of an additional exam may be well worth it if you save hundreds on braces.

4. Look into purchasing a discount dental plan. This isn’t traditional insurance, but it can help you save money. These programs typically offer a percentage reduction on specific dental procedures. By paying a low monthly fee you’ll have access to the discounts on everything from cleanings to more serious dental work.

The best way to save money on dental care is to take care of your teeth properly. By brushing and flossing daily, you can help prevent cavities and other dental problems.

Teach your children to brush and floss, as well. Limit their use of sugary treats and make sure they don’t eat or drink anything after brushing at night. These habits will go a long way to preventing excessive dental costs down the road.

In this article I’m going to talk about vitamins for hair regrowth. Many times when people are starting to lose their hair, they look to get expensive hair loss treatments when all they really had was a deficiency in certain essential vitamins their body needs. Below are descriptions of a few vitamins your body needs to maintain its hair.

Niacin (Vitamin B3)

When you don’t take enough Niacin, the circulation in your scalp is negatively effected which can lead to hair loss. You should be taking a healthy amount of Niacin to help promote your scalp circulation. You should be taking around 15 mg of Niacin daily. You can find find Niacin in wheat germ, chicken, turkey, fish, and meat.

Vitamin E

This is another vitamin that helps to enhance your scalp’s circulation. You can find this in oils, soybeans, nuts, green vegetables, and dried beans. You should be taking around 400 IU per day.

Inositol

Inositol is important because it keeps your hair follicles healthy. If you have a sufficient amount in your body, it will help to promote hair growth. You can find this in your whole grains, liver, and citrus fruits. You should try to take around 600 mg per day.

Important Points To Note:

Although Niacin, Vitamin E, and Inositol are important vitamins for hair regrowth, there is an important point that you need to understand. These are only a few of the many vitamins that you need to be taking. Others include Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Biotin, Niacin, and Vitamin B6 and B5, just to name a few. You should also be taking herbals supplements such as Saw Palmetto, Nettle Rooth, and Pumpkin Seed which are effective solutions for hair regrowth. I would suggest looking into herbal hair loss pills because they encompass all of these essential vitamins and herbs. I say this because it gets to be pretty inconvenient having to separately take all of these essential components in your hair loss treatment. It is also difficult to get the best sort of mix to give you the best results. That is why herbal hair loss pills are so popular, they have the most potent mix of vitamins, minerals, and herbs in a single capsule.
